You may have been like me and not really thought much about your twitter name. Here is some information/advice that I have learnt over the week.

While searching on google for a niche service online, the website address that ranked 3rd was an American companies twitter account who offered the service I was looking for.

After click on the link in google to the twitter account they had 400,000 followers, obviously there is others like me looking for the service via google and finding them due to having a “generic” twitter name.

Just like Domain names, generic rules. Generic Twitter names rock as well in google search results.

You are not allowed to buy and sell twitter names as its against twitters terms and conditions. But I think its going to happen with twitter’s popularity and like dot com’s there is only ever going to be one of each twitter names.

There is a site that is actually offering exchange/buy/sell of twitter names.

Here is the link to the site where you can sell your twitter name http://www.tweexchange.com

May be a good time to register a few generic twitter names related to your business services etc.

What do you think? Would like to hear what you think about this?

  1. Twitter user names will not be valuable as domain names are. Try, Twitter based brands. That’s where the dough is! We know!
